Have just come off the phone with Pan Macmillan and have been told I can now spread the word.
The 1st Pan Book of Horror Stories, originally published in 1959 will be re-issued in a 'paperback original format' in October 2010.
Pan Macmillan have asked me to come on board in the books execution and I am also supplying a short history of the series which will accompany the book, so as to give an introduction to a new audience.
This has taken a long time to iron out, and I'm glad that Pan agreed with me that it would be a good idea but I'm seriously over the f**k**g moon. ;D

i know you've put an awful amount of time and effort into making this happen, so well done on that. would be brilliant if this turns a whole new generation onto proper non-gurly horror stories!
Speaking of proper horror, i've not forgotten you Dr. T., and will be sending for Black Book Of Horror 5 midweek. A little bird told me it's a stormer.

Well done Johnny! I'm seriously pleased about this, as I would be about anything that furthers the cause of, as Dem so eloquently puts it, 'non-gurly horror'.

Cheers folks, it's been a very weird year - trying to bring the Pan Horrors back into the 'mainstream' collective conciousness has not been an easy task! Things got quite rough this summer and I nearly walked away from everything - but this has made that moot and I'm now able to sit back and know I've directly done something really good for the series I've idolised since I was a teen. Here's to you Bertie, ya old bugger.

... Black Book Of Horror 5 .... A little bird told me it's a stormer. Why thank you, Dem - I haven't been called "a little bird" for many a year! Anyway, Johnny, like I said on the BFS forum, this is great news. Very well done, young fella! ;D

Just to let you all know, I've managed to get a two page spread in the Feb issue of SFX with an article I've written about the Pan Horrors and the re-issue of the first series and the Vault gets a mention in a totally round about indirect way which only people that come here would get..... And next months issue the Jan one that comes out in Dec should hopefully have a nice interview (or more probably a couple of lines) with yours truly talking about the Back from the Dead jobbie.
Am now moving house to Norwich on Friday and transferring the old job, and wont have any internet for a few weeks! Might have to read some books or something...
