By the way, if anyone doesn't like me actually finding Chris Barker a nice bloke, tough. Facts are facts. David I met CB face-to-face a few years ago at a BFS open night. As you say he was very charming. I too warmed to him. But, in my subsequent online experiences, that charm vanished the instant I disagreed with him. Still, I understand he has been seriously ill recently, and I'm truly sorry to hear that. I hope his health rapidly improves. Mark S. Yes, I got the impression he was none too well, which I was sorry to notice. I hope that any subsequent contact doesn't deteriorate as things have in the past. Perhaps CB should restrict himself to snailmail and phones. The internet does not suit some people. Missed you at FantasyCon, Mark. Would have loved to have met up with you again there. It was one of the best conventions I have been to for a long time. David

Oh, and the blonde lady talking to Lady P. in the same photo is my friend Anna Taborska! Mark S. I met her at whc. She's really nice.

Brilliant photos! Oh a shout out to Caroline, who was such a lovely woman, great to meet her at last! I took the train back to Norwich with Mr Barker and he is lovely company (and this is while suffering my first hangover in years... ) Very interesting and erudite chap. I think we're going to meet up in the next month or so and am looking forward to it. Have a copy of TENEBROUS and I read a few stories while in the pit last night, and he knows how to write. So now a fond farewell for the next week or so - two years ago today the wife and I were married - off to Scotland for a jolly, and will be stopping in on John Burke for dinner on the Wednesday. I'll be sure to pass on the Vaults best wishes to him.

It was a great weekend, and the Pan launch went better than I expected. Thanks to everyone who turned up - there was a really decent-sized crowd for the reading and I'm seriously delighted for Johnny and the future of 'proper horror' that every copy was sold!

I had been promised a copy too but I never bumped into Chris Barker again at the convention.

My copy is on the way from Amazon. Really looking forward to holding my first 'brand new' PBoHS since the 30th.

Well it's out in the shops today.... Nice one! I'll have a look in Smiths to see if they have it on their shelves locally, though I'm not buying a second copy.

Pan Horror bookmarks and the back to all three of them. Images for the two bookmarks (red banner and screaming girl) come from my private collection, so it's pretty cool that Pan have replicated them for all to own!
