I no longer have any of those Haunted Library Newsletters so it's fascinating to see them again. Even more fascinating are the cards, as they're certainly of artwork which I published, but I don't know who produced the cards. Think I've ten of the newsletters all told, running consecutively from Christmas 1989 (latest publication, The Moon Gazer & One Other, out next spring, G &S 11) through to Summer of 1992 ( Spirits Of Another Sort/ G&S 15). It's amazing how much info you crammed into four pages. Don't know how I overlooked this, but the April 1989 newsletter includes a very positive review of Mark 'Pitbull' Samuels' fanzine, The Stygian Dreamhouse. "Mark starts things off as he means to go on with a controversial editorial in praise of the amateur." Controversial, yeah right! Who does he think he is? Richard Stains?

I have no memory of what I said in any of those Newsletters (my memory is weird - brilliant for the useless stuff but not good for things like this). So I don't know exactly what I meant, but I hope it was clear that praise for the amateur wouldn't be controversial as far as I'm concerned. It's a source of pride to me to be called an amateur (and, as will have become clear on this board, for my publications to be called fanzines).

Other small press publications reviewed in the April 1989 newsletter were Machenstruck, Masters Of Fantasy: G.G. Pendarves and Dark Dreams 7. More about Stygian Dreamhouse. Given that I was fanzine dependent at the time, can't believe I didn't order a copy.

It's good to know that I agree with myself!
