My copy of Book of Shadows was awaiting me when I got home from work, and it is a thing of beauty. Must hurry through what I'm currently reading so that I can get started on it.

Rosemary has confirmed that copies of the Newsletter, with booklet, went out over 3 weeks ago. Due to the recent massive hike in postage costs, those sent outside the UK and Europe went by surface mail, so may still be in transit. But any subscribers within the UK/Europe who haven't received their copies should contact Ro at the email address on the front page off the Ghosts & Scholars site. I am still awaiting this but I understand it should be coming soon.. - truly can't wait. Ro also said that while she had to use surface mail due to the extra booklet this time she would continue to use airmail going forward for all the future issues.. how cool is that!

yes, read the first 3 stories Lucky stiff.. so, how do you like it so far? Since I'm in the US I have to wait a bit longer perhaps so I'm trying to enjoy it vicariously...

I have really enjoyed all the tales that I have read so far, leaving the winner to last, there is a real different take to the MRJ feel to many of them, some are not Jamesian in feel at all, just shows the quality of the field, that they haven't been slavish in their tributes. standout for me so far has been the Mirror of Don Ferrante, a sequel to Casting the Runes, and the most unusual has been Mezzotaint, Mr Probert has some imagination. I found Reggie Oliver's Four Yews tale superbly Jamesian, and Mark Valentine's Fire Companion, better than the original tale, (Two DOctors) Of three girls and their talk was an excellent precursor in traditional style to wailing well. Still got about 6 to read

My copy also arrived. Found it yesterday on returning from a midweek break. Looks great, only read Rosemary's introduction so far though.

What's a proper fanzine without rusty staples? You pay extra for the rust. That's history!

Mr. Happy The green one is Tales from Lectoure (2006) - the first publication of a translation (with comments) by MRJ of a strange series of French folk stories. The one on the far right is the Bibliography of MRJ's writings which I produced in 2007. Both are out of print (though I do provide a Word version of the Bibliography free to needy folk!). I think those are the only ones which aren't G&S (the booklet with the pinkish cover is an issue of G&S).

Any thoughts on that one?

Any thoughts on that one? That's Ghosts & Scholars Newsletter 15 (2009), in which I published three sequels to MRJ's incomplete story draft, "The Game of Bear". (Don't be fooled by the "Newsletter": the magazine is now just as large as it used to be when it was just Ghosts & Scholars!)

I no longer have any of those Haunted Library Newsletters so it's fascinating to see them again. Even more fascinating are the cards, as they're certainly of artwork which I published, but I don't know who produced the cards.
