Please bear with. Will add the full thanks and credits over coming days. Final word - accompanied by magnificent, haunting image - goes to Shrinkproof, without whose extraordinary contribution this year's effort would have been so much the poorer. Shrinkproof "The railway line to Fortrose, Scotland, was closed decades ago and part of it converted to a footpath. When walking along it in February 2019 I saw this tall figure ahead who kept randomly stopping and standing absolutely still for periods before striding off again. I spent a long time fiddling with the camera so I didn’t have to catch him up."

I was really hoping you would catch up. I was really hungry...

Here's wishing all Vault inmates a thoroughly cool Yule. Be happy, be content, but be careful out there....

Fantastique. I'm sure Chas would more than have approved. Great stories (with one exception - but thanks all for the kind comments) and superb illos from Chrissie (especially that haemoglobin background!) and photography from Shrinkproof. Well done all!

Some great stories and fantastic illustrations by Chrissie and the merry band; a fitting touch to give Charles Black the final word: Good old Priapus with his redemptive justice, although perhaps a little late to help Blackstone's ...nasty soul

I don't know if 2020 Calendar will be happening - I hope so with it being the 10th anniversary - all I can say that if it does, me and my 8 year old daughter Marnie have co-written a horror story together called "THE DUNGEON OF MY DEAD DADDY'S HEAD" , and I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that her part of the story was her idea, she has spoken all her stuff with me typing it out like Barbara Cartland's secretary - she's not allowed to see the bits I've written although she has a flavour of it, and it's proper Vault material. It's about me giving a story to the Vault Xmas calendar every year, but now she wants a slice of the action and needs to retire (kill) me as quickly as possible.

Top stuff, Johnny! Shurely that's a reason for doing the calendar? Well, December 1st anyway. Hey, here's where the line up for the Bath Festival Of Blues & Progressive Music is! Was driving me nuts that it wasn't in the Taste For The Macabre thread. I mention it because Dr John (the Night Tripper) was on the bill. I played his first album recently. It's called Gris Gris. Also the title of the Eddy C Bertin story within this calendar. Spooky, eh? No? Oh well.
