a few additions: Another, at first glance, unlikely PIGS contender is the Thomas Harris full-on Gothic Horror novel, Hannibal (Heinemann, 1999, Arrow 2000) wherein the atrociously disfigured Mason 'Dr. Lecter ate my face' Verger eventually straps the galloping gourmet to a forklift as a feast for the wild boars he's reared especially for the occasion. Lector - or most of him - escapes to eat brains, only through the timely intervention of Clarence Starling. The killer pigs might not be devoted as much page space as they would be in a 'Richard Haigh' novel, but what there is of them is worth the wait. Barry Porter's Junkyard (Zebra, 1989) is another for the RODENTS file. |

well, technically crabs ain't fish either, but i get the idea. maybe that category should be renamed 'Marine Life.' Thank you for talking us through Slimer, BTW. Man, but it was a sad day for horror fiction when the vogue for fast and filthy nature-in-revolt cheapo's passed. |

Back on the animals attack theme, what about Carnivore by Guy N Smith. Thats got to be worth a shout. Currently re-reading it to.

Year of the Angry Rabbit is quite a rare book. Its more political satire than horror. The giant killer rabbits don't really feature untill three quatars of the way into the book.Its nothing like the film Night of the Lepus.
In the list of creatures the only real, regular man eaters are crocodiles.
