^when st. john and his mate come back from the continent they are followed on the ship by two strange figures (in cloak and muffler) who don't seem to relate to either the skeleton or the hound... (unless i've completely misremembered the story...)

think it was a robert westall story but cant find any reference to it. basically two lads bunk off school and buy a snuff movie from a dingy shop, another lad(who they don't know) tags along to watch it. turns out the tag along kids mum is the 'star' of the film... little help??

the story i have just had published in One Eye Grey is along these lines (it's called 'Goin' Underground') and was inspired in part by some of the above , notably death line and the midnight meat train. i dont think anyone with 'a certain mind frame' can ride the tube without looking out into the dark tunnells and wondering!

Had BBoH on 'the list' for awhile, this thread has convinced me to take the plunge and i'll grab it on my next trip to amazon. when black static was in its third alternative guise it was available in the virgin megastore on piccadilly circus, don't know if that's still the case as i now have a subscription.

'a penny dreadful for the 21st century'
anyone else read these? they're up to issue 5 now (which contains one of my stories <shameless plug>) they're are pretty londoncentric but to me, a dweller in the big smoke, that's the beauty of them.
