Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any modern stories written regarding hopping vampire or even any old folklore tales that I could hunt out?
Working on a few stories using them but quite fancy seeing a bit more of what has come before apart from films etc.
As always, cheers in advance!

^I've always struggled with Raymond as well. Feel I should give him another go at some point

Now THAT's back cover art! From what I've read a lot of people seem to rate GBH as his "masterpiece" over "Jack Comes Home" so I'll be keeping an eye out for that!

Currently reading "Get Carter" (Jack returns home) - for some reason, probably because I'd seen the film so many times, I'd avoided reading this. My mum bought me it for my birthday - bloody loving it. The first person narrative gives a depth to some of the things which the film hints at.

thanks so much, Franklin.
After managing to find a few story synopsis' I think most likely that it's "diplomat in arms"
"Killer" was also very good (alien in ancient rome) IIRC and hadn't realised Wagner was involved

^put much more succinctly than I ever could! And I would echo all the points above - especially the last. After reading far too much PA fiction I came to the conclusion that it would be better to simply walk outside and embrace the bomb blast, or what have you

Need to grab these - they also have a sub window opening soon (next month I think) if anyone is looking

Trying to identify a sci-fi short and hoped you lot would be able to assist.
I'm pretty sure it appeared in an anthology called "Space Gladiators" but can't find a TOC for that online. Read it about twenty years ago.
Basically the throne has become vacant on a medieval world and an agent from the higher tech empire is sent to try and usurp control. There's jousting and one-on-one combat. At the end the big twist (IIRC) is that they have to produce documentation of their family lines and the agent is able to do so - revealing he does in fact have a real claim to the throne...
Any ideas?

Still love "Lock In" - a wonderful piece of "pub horror"

Thanks, Andy. There's a couple there I will try to keep an eye out for - the Edge Christmas one has been mentioned to me before and sounds bonkers enough for me to try and hunt down.

You're dead right about the term "literary" and it was one I was loath to use. I think you detailed what I meant more fully; well written, engaging plot and characters, and a bit of depth in regards to the historical situation and setting.
And you're right the length affects the depth I suppose.
cheers!
