Wow cannot believe the chap above and his reaction to Slowly . It is exactly how I feel too in reference to it. Having read all but the 30th down the years Slowly is the only one that suddenly springs up when I have to think of a pan story. It did trouble me when I first read it yonks ago. And perhaps still does. Its very nasty and stays with you for many years.

Been re reading a few of the tales in here.
So Much Work : Is a strange and silly tale. Which basically has the reader muttering "is that it ?" Poor sausage dog though.
Patent Number: A pointless page filler. Since when did it become The 14th pan book of Joke stories ?
The Clinic : As stated before one of the most evil tales ever to be written. You need a proper pick-me-up after reading this. Great tale.
The Spider and the Fly: Great little story. Quiet rare in the fact it does'nt contain a single living human being but still gives us a cringe at the last few lines. Superb hiding place Mr Spider.
Change of Heart : Although it is obvious exactly were this one is going right from the off it still is an entertaining little story and one typical of the Pan lore.
It Came to Dinner: As above a see through story but is different by the horrible outcome for the victim at the conclusion. What a hideous way to die * shudders ! *

Seeing that MASQUES cover hurts as I always used to see it around and never picked it up. Now its nowhere to be seen. And Skeleton Crew is well worth a buy for the excellent tale THE MIST.

The Clinic is one of the saddest tales I have ever read. Especially in the closing words when the tear rolls down her remaining eye.
On another note. Don't wish to appear sarcastic or anything but Why do folks here call the cover ghoul Sir Gore Carruthers. In the tale if I recall does'nt it say that Gore Carruthers had no eyes just black empty holes ? The cover chap has two, a lovely shade of red they are at that too.

Easiest thing in the world always stuck with me. Animal violence always gets to me . Jog my memory... Does he use paint on the dog or cat ?? I know the fishy gets the acid.

Well in town today I found some hens teeth. A snakes toenail clipping and some goldfish boots. But my quest for this scarce book continues.

Hi. Yep I am being lazy here but I know all you folks full of pan knowledge will know this in an instant. Basically all my pans are bagged up lovely ( except the 30th which I have'nt got ) Anyway I recall a tale titled something like Henry and the beautiful people. I recall it struck a cord with me and I want to revist. But which volume was it in. I know its a later book. Think Alan Temperley wrote it too. Folks help me out here. I don't want to un-bag my books in a wild frenzy only for it to be the last one I check.

Brilliant. Never even seen this around. Would love to find it and what a title. Does'nt the first tale sound a little like the story in the old Amicus film VAULT OF HORROR. The one with Terry Thomas in. Neat Job I believe its titled.

Hutson's the best for me guys. This book was a welcome return to form and had great subject matter. One of his more thinner novels so its a lightning fast read. His latest book sadly is poor IMO and bears a striking resemblance to the video game Manhunt.
