i started a new music thread as it isn't summer. And there is no use making a Christmas one because they are almost all terrible. Doesn't Frank Sinatra sound wonderful here.

I love this guy's voice. Saw him live a few years back, and was completely blown away. And here he is covering my favourite Townes Van Zandt song. I want this played at my funeral.

I want this played at my funeral, a time and a place where it will be appropriate. The Grateful Dead's lyricist Robert Hunter and bass player Phil Lesh wrote it together for Lesh's father, who was dying at the time. Fine music and dazzling lyrics (which are on the video).

Maybe I'll have this played at my funeral.

I'll just leave this here I think... I would tell my story about meeting the Dandy Warhols, but there's nothing to it except that I met them and they were pleasant in a stoned sort of way. Excellent band, anyhow. I want to like Evanescence, but I just can't get into their songs.

I am the eagle, I live in high country
In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky
I am the hawk and there? s blood on my feathers
But time is still turning, they soon will be dry
And all of those who see me, all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I fly
Come dance with the west wind and touch on the mountain tops
Sail over the canyons and up to the stars
And reach for the heavens and hope for the future
And all that we can be and not what we are

It's a sad song really, and it happens to many girls, but it is better to be beautiful on the inside than outside. Not all men judge women by their looks, and those that don't are the better men.

I can see why much younger women would marry Roger Scruton, or Slavoj Zizek, or Noam Chomsky. Even though they are all very different in outlook they have or had, in Scruton's case, powerful and active minds. But an intellectual is very different from marrying those billionaires. All the well known ones seem to have much younger trophy wives. Do they really believe their characters are the attraction? And some wives are obvious gold diggers. But even though I joke about it, I couldn't do it. The person who you would hope you would spend your life with must have something in common with you.
