When real people are used in horror fiction. As heroes or villians. A Zombie Joe Biden, a Vampire lady molesting Bill Clinton, a Cthulhoid unspeakable entity Trump, that sort of thing. Here is one to get started (spotted on my ebook site, naturally):

I don't just mean stupid books. There must be some with the likes of Elizabeth Bathory and Lucrezia Borgia in them.

The Brazen Head by John Cowper Powys. Featuring the English thirteenth century friar Roger Bacon. Legend has it he made a talking bronze head.

Here is one to get started (spotted on my ebook site, naturally): This is the most frightening thing I've seen since I came to this site.

Some to be getting on with: Lord and Lady Probert are menaced by the Whitechapel Monster MK II in Guy Adams' Hands of the Ripper. Elvis Presley, Alexander Wallcott, Theda Bara, Douglas Fairbanks, Bobby Darin, Theda Bara, Marilyn Monroe, Sam Peckinpah and Warren Oates are among those who either destroy or join the undead in Martin Greenberg's Celebrity Vampires. Countess Bathory appears in multiple novels and shorts, the following but the tip of the tip of a huge iceberg: John Tigges Vessel. Michel Parry's Countess Dracula, Guy Adams Countess Dracula. Raymond Rudorff's The Dracula Archives, Ray Russell's Sagittarius ( Unholy Trinity) ... Phil Collins and Lord Chris and Lady-in-Red de Burgh, get up to all sorts of BDSM activity in William Codpiece Thwackery's Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy. If you want more, there should be some on this thread: Guest Starring ...

Announcement from John Linwood Grant which is somewhat relevant to this thread:
I can now announce that SHERLOCK HOLMES & THE OCCULT DETECTIVES III (coming from Belanger Books in 2022) will be expanding to become two full books ā Volumes III AND IV. A terrific range of stories, with Holmes encountering and working with real historical figures, characters from other classic period writers, and occult detectives of the authorsā own invention. Expect the anthropologist Margaret Murray, Aleister Crowleyās fictional Simon Iff, and many more.
Iād also like to say that there were NO poor quality submissions, only a few which didnāt quite fit, as seems inevitable with such projects, so Iām once again genuinely appreciative of everyoneās work. More details will follow when all the emails are gathered in.
Also, a couple of nights ago I played a trailer for the forthcoming second season of the Norwegian series Beforeigners and it seems that Jack the Ripper is one of the characters in the new episodes--also some fellow who seems to be a Dark Ages Norwegian King (but I can't recall the name mentioned in the trailer to look this up).
I haven't seen any of this series as I don't subscribe to the channel required to view it--various "platforms" and such have proliferated over here to a dizzying rate, and generally at the end of the work day I'd just as soon tune into an old episode of Kolchak, Dark Shadows, Crown Court or Space 1999 (or various other things from ye days of yore). But a friend swears Beforeigners is really quite special.

I haven't seen any of this series as I don't subscribe to the channel required to view it- H. Yes, this is becoming ridiculous. Who can afford to subscribe to all of them and it doesn't make sense to do it for one new series. I can't even keep up with Netflix and the deluge of new stuff is mind-numbing. A lot of potentially interesting stuff will sink without a trace.
