Hi MissScarlett - thanks for sharing! Great photos. It looks like your Pan Horror collection is similar to mine - missing the elusive no.30 right? Not that it's particularly elusive, more like particularly EXPENSIVE! Maybe one day I'll cop a bargain in an old second hand shop or from eBay but until then I think my collection is going to remain incomplete... I have several incomplete collections actually! Fontana Horror, Fontana Ghost Stories... but then part of the fun is collecting isn't it? I think this type of book is particularly hard to come by now. When I was a kid the charity and second-hand shops seemed to be full of them but now I only really see them going for a song on eBay or Amazon. Anyway, I'll post my pics below... had a bit of a job figuring out how to insert images. Same here for me regarding #Pan 30! I spent about $18 to get Pan #17 that I was missing, but am not spending even 1/4 of what they want for #30. I don't have the first volume at the moment either, mostly out of shame that I had it and gave it away . I have a few Fontanas too, but probably won't get any more. I like books that aren't (half) filled with the same old classics, as good as they might be. Having said that, the Mary Danby door-stopper anthologies are fairly good (65 Tales of....whatever). I still have trouble inserting photos at times so don't feel alone in that

Beautiful! I have "Tales of Unease" too. I love the little "Guardians of the Shelf" and don't think I'd want to go near the books in the dark

Again, very nice. I have the Birkins and love Chetwynd-Hayes; I don't have yours but just finished Cold Terror that I paid more than usual for. None of the others, though. I might get Weird Tales now....

Does the cloth edition of The Price of Fear feature a frontispiece photo of the Immortal Vincent? H. I'm not sure there ever was a cloth edition of The Price Of Fear but would be pleased to be proved wrong. Am sure you would enjoy Vault legend the Right Hon. Lord John Llewellyn Probert's unspeakably fiendish tribute to VP, The Nine Deaths Of Dr. Valentine and sequel The Hammer Of Dr. Valentine. Unfortunately the original publisher "ran into difficulties," but if you are willing to forgo the glorious cover artwork, both novellas are available in paperback from SnowbooksAlso .... welcome MS Palmer. Thank you for registering and I hope you enjoy your time here. According to Mike Ashley's The Supernatural Index (searchable on Amazon and Google Books), there was a Severn House hardback of The Price of Fear (1977). I can't find an image of it.

Thanks, Michael, for that gorgeous scan--lovely cover! As I've grown older, I just seem to cherish with ever increasing fondness the great classic horrors featuring such wonderful souls as Vincent, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Lionel Atwill, George Zucco and all the other divine ones.
And thanks for those gorgeous photos, Ms Palmer. I'm quite curious about The Demon Lovers, edited by Lucy Berman. Will have to find out more!
cheers, H.

I googled it and found, of course, some details and a table of contents on the Vault. One of the stories is this one.... en.wikisource.org/wiki/Devil_stories/Madam_LuciferAnother one is this ("How Love Came to Professor Guildea") which I'm enjoying listening to: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ParwMY-4wfkI don't think I'll add this one to my groaning shelves. There's an idea for a horror story, tortured bookshelves take revenge....

I'd love a copy of The Unbidden - inspired, I think, by good reviews here, but the last copy I found was selling for nearly £40...! The Weird Tales volumes are pretty good. I read More Weird Tales as a young teen and The Beasts of Barsac - my first introduction to Robert Bloch - and Cellmate by Theodore Sturgeon have never been forgotten!

I was lucky enough to find a copy of Tales of Fear and Fantasy at a Salvation Army outlet a few years ago (before it closed due to high rent . Recently I bought "Tales from the Shadows" for quite a reasonable price online, and left a synopsis on the Vault. I'd love to get The Unbidden too, as well as Terror By Night and The Night Ghouls. The prices aren't that bad, it's the shipping that can double the cost

A few shots of my library in progress. I am (finally) getting close to completion. Mr. Happy (bowing down in front of the pc) I am not worthy.... What a wonderful library you've built; it puts mine to shame.... Thank you! I have been collecting books for 30+ years and I am finally able to start organizing the damn things. I'll post better pictures when it is finished. However, don't ever think a library puts yours to shame. Every collection begins with a single book. Take a look at this photo from the late 80's - not nearly as impressive, is it? And that was pretty much all of it. Mostly King and Koontz. Your collection is much more impressive than mine (to me at least) when they were of similar size. I would have given anything to have a single Pan! They were legendary. Just keep reading and collecting! Mr. Happy Attachments:

I've been collecting (well, keeping books I really like) for 30+ years too. If I'd kept every one I'd bought, I'd have at least as many as you have. I only started collecting Pans thanks to this Vault; it's costing me a fortune in books I'd never really heard of before .

I have pretty much held on to every book I've acquired since I've been collecting. This will probably really please my kids when I die and they sell it off piece by piece. Sigh. Mr. Happy
