Just got from ebay R Chetwynd Hayes - Doomed in the Night (William Kimber 1978 1st Ed.) - Quite pleased with this one as it's a review copy and still has the original slip from the publishers telling the recipient when they want the reviews up by! Much-o-chuffed-o. Now Johnny, you're skint - stop buying...anyone want to buy my kidney?

Lastest ebay purchase through: Peter Tremayne - Zombie £1 & from a charity bookshop today: Joe Haldeman - Peace & War (all 3 Forever novels together) 50p, made even better by finding out the saving i've made (It's a new book, which is on sale in waterstones for £7.99) Tristian Travis - Lamia 50p. Mentioned elsewhere (on the star books thread). Bit of a doorstop at 567 pages, but it's an early 80s star horror at 50p, so I had to have it.

Latest Portman Road Car Boot finds... The Devil Rides Out - Dennis Wheatly (Arrow '64 reprint) The Hound of the Baskervilles - Conan Doyle (John Murray 1959) The Dogs - Robert Calder (Coronet) Archives of Evil, presented by Christopher Lee - Michel Parry (W H Allen 1977) Great Murder Mysteries - ed by Mary Danby (St Michael 1983) Tales of Mystery and Revenge - ed by Noel Langley (Mayflower 1969) and finally, I don't know why the hell I bought it, but I did... SAS versus the CIA - Gerard De Villiers (NEL 1969). Nice half naked lady with gun on the cover..that might have swung it for me... Concerning Devil Rides Out, I've not read the book since I was 18 - and due to the recent Wheatley thread and as it said 'The best thing of its kind since Dracula' - I couldn't resist...

Shaun Hutson - Stolen Angels Judy Gardiner - The Quick and The Dead (Hamlyn) Peter Cave - FireFlood (Futura 1980): Didn't put this one in the Futura thread, as it didn't seem sufficently horror, but the blurb certainly attracted me:

Just won a copy of Parasite by Richard Lewis on ebay, very chuffed Other Than the Alan Radnor titles The Force & Possessed + the Rabid novelisation under the lewis name, I think I've got them all now, not sure. I have Spiders The Web Devil's Coach Horse Night Killers Parasite (on its way) Is that it? or are there any other Lewis titles (excluding his children's books), other than the ones I mentioned above the list?

Weirdest ones ever from the carboot:
The Realms of Ghosts - Eric Maple The Dark World of Witches - Eric Maple
Paid 30p for the pair, both in beautiful mint condition in a box full of junk like you would not believe, took them home and they were both signed by Eric Maple himself. Now until I have another signature of his to compare them to - I'll err on the side of caution...but it looks good!

Yeah - I did find one of those in a charity shop last month for 50p, but was rather beaten up, and the back cover was missing. Gave it to my mate in Oz for a tenner.....

Bad news, not getting Parasite after all, seller couldn't find it in their inventory despite search. But at least they were honest about it & have given a full refund, as such I still gave them positive feedback.
Oh well, I'm sure another copy will show up on ebay again at some point.

Back again & with good news I decided to join ebid, while looking for alternatives to ebay, & have turned up some good titles, including a copy of parasite, which was cheaper than the copy I was originally buying. I am now awaiting these Hamlyn nasties : Richard Lewis - Parasite Margaret Tabor - The Understudy Daniel Farson - Transplant John Halkin - Squelch Joseph L. Gilmore - Rattlers Russell Rhodes - Tricycle With postage discount for multiple items, it all came to £5.85, so it's under £1 per book, to say I'm chuffed is an understatement. Once I have them, I will of course add threads with cover scans for the books amongst them not allready covered in the Hamlyn section. There seems to be plenty of worthwhile, vault friendly books on ebid, mostly cheap prices (quite a few buy it nows) & reasonable p&p, I'm impressed so far & no they're not paying me
