Yes, that was an eye-opener for me, that thread on charity shops and books which is somewhere around here (no idea where, though!). The thought of great old books being trashed is horrifying to me!

David J Michael - Death Tour (NEL, good cover of alligator attacking in the sewers...anyone know owt about this one?) This was a new one for me, too, found today at the market, along with another 1980 NEL, The Ice King by Michael Scot (both books first published in the late 70s). Another of possible interest here is John Coyne's Hobgoblin (Fontana 1981, first publication) and McCammon's Bethany's Sin (Avon 1980), very attractive cover. And Sven Hassel's O.G.P.U. Prison (Corgi 1983). Nearly forgot Richard Curtis's Squirm (Sphere 1982) which I saw on the Sci Fi (ugh) channel recently.

The hospital's perked up a bit recently. A book club edition of Dennis Wheatley's The Devil And All His Works. Richard Laymon's Blood Games (I recently read The Travelling Vampire Show - he's still exasperating). John Gardner's novelisation of Goldeneye. A couple of Get Smart novels from the 60s. Spares of Hutson's Assassin and Herbert's The Rats. Oh, and this... Let's see how long photobucket take to realise....

Finally got a copy of Killer Crabs (well, I won the auction tonight, so I've still got to wait ). Final price with postage came to £4.45 (£3.20 winning bid), I probably shouldn't have paid that much, but you know how it's easy to get carried away . Just Crabs: The Human Sacrifice to get now, I'll probably find the rocking horse shit first . Edit: Wouldn't you know it, there's another Killer Crabs auction finishing tomorrow, starting at 20p with 80p postage, I'm going to kick myself if that's what it goes for .

From a tiny little charity shop in Cromer:
Spiders - Richard Lewis (Hamlyn 1978) Vandals - Wallace Hildick (Coronet 1981)
Vandals has a photo of a snarling cat on the cover with a burning house in the background and the contents seem horrific enough, so shall give it ago. It might just sneak into the Vault if it's any good or bad... But any book that has the following on the front cover - 'Who's been torturing the animals? Who killed the little boy?' promises nastiness galore! Has anyone read it?
