Did anybody see the TOTP 2: Halloween Special on BBC2 this Saturday gone? Unfortunately it clashed with Match Of The Day and I was reduced to channel hopping but what I caught of it was class. Bauhaus being all scary miming to Bela Lugosi's Dead, Split Enz at their most neurotic ( I Got You), Ian Anderson at his most 'bonkers' ( Witches Promise), Arthur Brown at his most singed ( Fire), Atomic Rooster at their most hairy ( Devil's Answer) and, of course, Pans People enduring public humiliation for a rather too literal interpretation of the late, great Boris Pickett's Monster Mash. Imagine the cat-fight over who got to wear the ring-mistress costume! Sorry. Where was I again ... ? Oh yeah. TOTP 2It can't all have been this great, can it?

I think it's a fair bet we'll get it again this time next year. Have you seen their imaginative schedule for Wednesday night? One token horror nod - bloody Halloween again! I mean, decent film and all that, but not every damn October 31st!
