This is a collection about Manly Wade Wellman‘s hero John the Balladeer who meets the occult in the hills of North Carolina. First collected by Derleth‘s Arkham House the stories originally appeared mostly in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in the 50s. Each story has a new introduction by the writer from 1963. Instead of the common workshop report these are a kind of prologue to the following adventures.
