Edward Dalton Stevens (1878-1939). Gifted, versatile artist, particularly prolific across the various MacFadden publications, most notably True Detective Mysteries, and Ghost Stories, for who he painted sixteen menacing spectre versus society girl covers from Feb. 1930 to May 1931. Tragically, Stevens lost his eyesight toward the close of the 'decade, and loathe to become a burden on his brother, William, shot himself dead in their shared New York apartment. True Detective Mysteries, Feb 1930 Ghost Stories, July 1930 Ghost Stories, March 1930 Ghost Stories, May 1930 Ghost Stories, March 1930 Ghost Stories, May 1930 Master Detective, Aug. 1930 Master Detective, Jan 1930 True Detective Mysteries, Dec. 1929 True Detective Mysteries, June 1930 True Detective Mysteries, March 1930

These are superb. I posted that classic "Yellow Peril" painting from The Master Detective August 1930 to a Sax Rohmer group I am on. Really gorgeous.
cheers, Hel.
