Page Trotter (1899-1987) It's probably fair to say that many of us who appreciate Ghost Stories (1926-31) are big fans of the glorious staged photographs and the cover painting of Doris Stanley, Delos Palmer, Jean Oldham & various. It's rare anyone on here makes a fuss of the interior illustrations, which replaced the dramatists from August 1928. Among the regular contributors — at least, he was through 1929 - Page Trotter (1899-1987), a prolific, genre-hopping Texan artist already familiar to many from the day's detective and western pulps (See David Saunders' Pulp Artists for biog). Here's a Trotter selection from Ghost Stories. Oscar Wilde - The Canterville Ghost: ( Ghost Stories, Sept. 1929) Archie Binns - Intruder at the Masquerade: ( Ghost Stories, Sept. 1929) H. G. Wells - The Inexperienced Ghost: ( Ghost Stories, Aug. 1929) Archie Binns - Garden of Enchantment: ( Ghost Stories, Aug. 1929) Guy de Maupassant - Bewitched Love Letters: ( Ghost Stories, Aug. 1929) Thelma Johnson - David Keeps His Word: ( Ghost Stories, Aug. 1929) Paul Ernst - A Crystal Gazer's Crime: ( Ghost Stories, June 1929). George T Osborn [as told to Wilbert Wadleigh]- Haunted Hollywood: ( Ghost Stories, July 1929) James Haskell [as told to Alan Schultz]- The Man With the Sabre Cut: ( Ghost Stories, Aug 1929)

Those are fab--great to see. When I saw the title of this thread I thought "Page Trotter" was the byline of a column authored by a compulsive speed reader; the book equivalent of "Globetrotter."
As usual I have no idea what this particular Ghost stories was; looks like the periodical featured some terrific material.
cheers, Hel.
