HELP IDENTIFYING AN ANTHOLOGY FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL LIBRARY

I am trying DESPERATELY to remember a short story collection that terrified me as a kid. The only 2 stories I remember were:

A) a kid's family runs over a creature on the road and he keeps it in his basement to nurse it back to health, but he gets trapped down there with it and he hears it crawling in the dark toward him (I think it's implied it's the chupacabra)


and B) A boy and his dad move into their distant family's estate with an old caretaker who begins to seem more vital as the boy's dad declines and the end is the boy bursting in on the caretaker draining the last of his dad's blood and drinking it.

Any help would be much appreciated, trying to find stuff to scare MY kids now. LOL.

Can you remember anything about the book itself - the cover illustration, paperback or hardback, that kind of thing? Offhand I can't think of any goatsucker shorts, though I'm guessing there must have been plenty at the time (early 'nineties?).
