Oliver Sherry - Mandrake The story centers around the investigations of an American occult detective, Tom Annesley (following in the great literary tradition of earlier psychic sleuths Carnacki, John Silence, Flaxman Low and Abraham Van Helsing), in two remote English villages. This area is terrorized by the immortal Baron Habdymos, malevolent sorcerer and last surviving of seven ancient adepts of black magic, and his evil bestial familiar or "mandrake," which feeds on blood -- a memorable creation worthy of M.R. James at his darkest. London: Jarrolds, [1929]. First Edition

I couldn't find much about the author. His real name appears to be George Edmund Lobo. He lived from 1894 to 1971. His book The Golden Desire has simply Lobo as the author on the cover. On Abe one seller describes it as, "Uncommon book by the enigmatic Irish poet and novelist who was also the editor of Dublin Art Monthly." Fiction Golden Desire (1926) Mandrake (1929) Poetry The Sacrifice of Love and Other Poems (1916) Clay Speaks of the Fire (1946) This is very interesting: dublininquirer.com/2018/10/31/searching-for-lobo-in-mount-jerome-cemeteryHe is mentioned in The Green Book: Writings on Irish Gothic, Supernatural and Fantastic Literature No. 13 (Bealtaine 2019), pp. 70-75 (6 pages) Written by Richard Dalby. I'll look further when I have time. Thank you for mentioning this Magog.
