Walther, Jeury, Curval and especially Andrevon became well-know writers in France. Andrevon worked in every medium, from radio to press. He wrote for the famous magazine Charlie Hebdo, published novels, edited anthologies, won awards, supported politicans and is still working with 85.
French sf is often very different than the usual US stuff. Cerebral, often political and often surreal. Even the usual action-adventure fare of which tons were produced in France the 70s and 80s has another beat than typical Anglo-English space operas. For our sensibilities it is often an acquired taste.
Jakubowski did good work, regardless if it was detective fiction or erotic photography.
