Charles L. Grant - The Pet (Tor Books, 1986, HC, this edition Futura 1987, 343 pages) Another of the many "quite horror" novels of Charles L. Grant, who was really busy at the time. The bibliography counts 9 published books in 1986, the pseudonymous novels - as Lionel Fenn, Steven Charles and Geoffrey Marsh - included.

"Autumn touches Ashford with frosty fingers and he bridles, 'Oooh darlin', put some gloves on will ye?'"
9 books in one year, and this one alone was 343 pages--did he sleep, eat, or visit the loo at all during that year? How many times did he have to change his typewriter ribbon, one wonders.
Great scan!
