Here we supply listings of castles and country houses that appear in literature and film. Fictional of course. We list the story or other source and give some information. Maybe it was based on a real castle or house, so list that too.

Here is an obvious one.
Castle Dracula.
Book: Dracula by Bram Stoker.
Publication date: 1897.
Location: Transylvania. Now part of present day Romania. At time of publication in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Near Borgo Pass, possibly the CÄlimani Mountains.
Description: A "vast ruined castle, from whose tall black windows came no ray of light, and whose broken battlements showed a jagged line against the sky."
"The castle is on the very edge of a terrific precipice. A stone falling from the window would fall a thousand feet without touching anything! As far as the eye can reach is a sea of green tree tops, with occasionally a deep rift where there is a chasm. Here and there are silver threads where the rivers wind in deep gorges through the forests."
Inspiration: The most likely inspiration for the castle is Slains Castle in Aberdeenshire. Stoker was a regular summer visitor to the area, and was staying in Cruden Bay (about half a mile from the castle) when he started writing Dracula. (See Dr Strange's post below)

Add your information and I'll add it to above to make a list, then add its name to the content list on main post. For instance what can you tell us about Hill House and the Belasco House.
