Jojo said that Robert Aickman main interest outside his fiction was canals, and I see he co-founded the Inland Waterways Association. It's not that eccentric, but it made me think of authors who had really odd eccentricities. Jack Kerouac invented his own baseball game, which he played with cards into adulthood, and he would make up sports commentaries to go along with them, his teams had their own individual characters. He played it during the Second World War, while he was fire watching in the forests. He invested a lot of time and effort.
Do you know any eccentricities that authors had? Maybe you can share them with us.
