Has anyone got a decent paperback copy of THE LURKER AT THE THRESHOLD by August Derleth available for sale for a decent price?

I am sorry, Michael. I only have this as a translation. Never bothered to get it as a original.

Michael, I thought you were Australian for some reason, and figured I could chuck it in an envelope and send it to you for a few dollars postage (it's a duplicate so I wouldn't ask anything for it). Overseas postage is a pain with customs forms and usually expensive, so it's probably not worth it, given that it's not in great nick. No tentacles here, just some ooze terrorizing the poor sod.

Dodgy kebab on the way home from the pub? That would account for the expression on his face.

Dodgy kebab on the way home from the pub? That would account for the expression on his face. And he did it without taking his trousers off.

I've just received a copy of this. If it's like Derleth's Mythos short stories the reader will understand what the first person narrator does not. And it will end in italics to explain what the reader already knows.

And it will end in italics to explain what the reader already knows. The protagonists are the usual hopeless bunch, and the plot is bascially a remake of The Shuttered Room. But I have to say that I quite like parts of this. If you discount the usual boring exposition of the Mythos it is readable. Unfortunatly, the last part is a failure, and the actual ending some of Derleth's worst writing.
