Ian Maitland - Cathedral (Headline 1992, pb 1993, 438 p.) James Bishop is a schoolboy with a secret. It's not the sort you tell your friends, particularly a yob like Shag Lawrence. And you definitely don't confide in the school chaplain, who has more in common with the Angel of Darkness than the Lord of Light. A religious maniac like Pa is out too, as is poor demented Ma.
There's only one place James can go to confront the demons that hound him: the huge, lowering and labyrinthine Cathedral. But can he face the hideous horrors that memory – and the dead – conjure upAnybody know this? I bought it back then, but never read it. The blurb is not very encouraging.
