Some lovely covers in there. Here's a thread I found onlne about removing stickers. I've never seen the products mentioned, such as Goo Gone and Un-Du, but I imagine they could be ordered online. Important to note that good ventilation and gloves are required if working with something like butane/lighter fluid. www.librarything.com/topic/9726H.

The Grand Guignol is a terrific read. Which of the two plays do you get at back of that edition, Andreas?. The Laboratory Of Hallucinations or A Crime In The Madhouse?

I got A Crime in the Madhouse, but Orgy in the Lighthouse sounds good too. Received this last week. Couldn't decide if I really need this, but when writing you so often use the Grand Guignol term. I just wanted a bit more fundament.

I just wanted a bit more fundament. I think you got the best deal. Mine has The Laboratory Of Hallucinations which is good fun, but A Crime In The Madhouse judged on the synopsis and stills, sounds completely gaga. Am confident you'll enjoy The Grand Guignol. Mel Gordon's commentary is excellent. Marvellous selection of the photo's and illo's, too. Bought it shortly after publication on the strength of Edwin Pouncey's review in NME.

Buck from the Salvos - read it over the weekend and now must find a stream of the movie, which looks different from the book judging from the previews. Hopefully it has those nutcase Nordic Black Metal loonies:
The film is a little different to the book, but not too much - definitely worth seeing though.

JamesDoig I'm in Sydney over the UK summer (July August), can you recommend any good book hunting visits, I'm staying in Katoomba. Jumping in before James.... I moaned the other day that Sydney - or at least the middle of the city - seems quite light on these days for good second-hand bookshops. However, while it's quite a few years since I've been to Katoomba, I gather there are a couple of good shops in that area and the other towns of the Blue Mountains area (eg, Leura). I gather it's also a decent area for charity shops; a friend was up there not long before Christmas, and found several good ones - though he was mainly hunting for vinyl. So you might find that the area in which you're based yields some unexpected finds! It's also a very pretty part of the world. Mark

Thank you, last summer just outside Melbourne I found an Ash Tree press book in an Op shop for a dollar, so I've got big expectations! I'm hoping that all those small towns have some good stuff.

Thank you, last summer just outside Melbourne I found an Ash Tree press book in an Op shop for a dollar, so I've got big expectations! I'm hoping that all those small towns have some good stuff. I'd follow Mark's advice about the Blue Mountains - but try Lamhda Books at Wentworth Falls, which is pretty close to Katoomba, and Brown Books in Springwood. Not sure if you'll find any bargains, but worth a look. In Sydney I go to Berkelouw's on Oxford Street - last time I was there I picked up a copy of the Tartarus Press Attempted Rescue signed by Jeremy Dyson for $20, but they don't have much in the way of vintage paperbacks. Gould's Book Arcade might be a better bet, which is out at Newtown. Sadly, Cornstalk has gone completely online, though he was pricey. And keep an eye out for charity bookfairs: www.svb.com.au/charity.html
