is there a specific collection of them, or has anyone compiled a list of bloch's vampire stories?

Not that I know of. Doubt it's anything like comprehensive, but thought I'd give the listing a go. The Cloak ( Unknown, May 1939/ The Opener of the Way, 1945) The Bat Is My Brother ( Weird Tales, November 1944/ Michel Parry [ed.] Rivals Of Dracula, 1977) Tooth or Consequences ( Amazing Stories, May 1950: Skeleton in the Closet and Other Stories, 2008) Hungarian Rhapsody ( Fantastic, June 1958: Pleasant Dreams—Nightmares, 1960[/i]) The Lighthouse 'With' Edgar Allan Poe ( Fantastic, January-February 1953: Pleasant Dreams—Nightmares, 1960) The Yugoslaves ( Night Cry, Spring 1986: Fear and Trembling, 1989) The Scent Of Vinegar ( Dark Destiny, 1994/ Best New Horror 6, 1995) The Undead ( Midnight Pleasures, 1987) *** Some of the following are perhaps contentious. *** Fear Planet ( Super Science Stories, Feb. 1943). Unread. A blood-drinking plant, apparently. Death Is A Vampire ( Thrilling Mystery, Sept. 1944: Robert E. Weinberg, Stefan Dziemianowicz, Martin H. Greenberg [eds.] Tough Guys & Dangerous Dames, 1993). Unread. The Bogeyman Will Get You ( Weird Tales, March 1946: The Skull of the Marquis de Sade, 1965). Twist ending. The Skull Of The Marquis De Sade has also been included in vampire bibliographies. The Girl From Mars ( Fantastic Adventures, March 1950: The Living Demons, 1967). The Hungry House. ( Imagination, April 1951: Pleasant Dreams—Nightmares, 1960). Guess what it does? Dig That Crazy Grave! ( Blood Runs Cold, 1961) Underground [aka The Living Dead] ( Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, April 1967: The Living Demons, 1967). A faked 'vampire' haunting takes a nasty turn. *** Both the Margaret L Carter and Brian J. Frost vampire bibliographies include the following homages to HPL *** The Shambler From The Stars ( Weird Tales, September 1935: The Opener of the Way, 1945) The Mannikin ( Weird Tales, April 1937: The Opener of the Way, 1945)

much obliged! unless i'm wrong, the penguin book of vampire stories contains the fake vampire story, and the mammoth book of vampire stories contains "hungarian raphsody". i am aware, however, that the entire extent of bloch's short stories is yet to be catalogued, and of course to be printed in a definitive edition. again my thanks.

I'm sure others on here can and will improve on the above, though it would be nigh on impossible to compile a "definitive" listing to everyone's satisfaction. For example, Bloch's Black Barter ( Weird Tales, Sept. 1943) and Nursemaid To Nightmares ( Weird Tales, Nov. 1942) include blink-and-you'll-miss-them vampire cameo's (the stories concern a man who collects rare creatures), which earns them a place in Margaret L. Carter's The Vampire In Literature, along with such dubious entries as The Man Who Collected Poe and The Sleeping Redheads. I guess "vampires" are in the eye of the beholder.

Robert Bloch - The Bedposts Of Life: ( Weird Tales, Summer 1991). Some horrors never end. Bob Walters "He hated what he was doing, but he couldn't help it. None of them could help it, because their need was too great. The great need for great sex." A kerb crawl through the red light district, eyeing every hooker until he decides it makes no difference which of them he picks up because they all got what he needs. He settles for the one who reminds him of Marlene Dietrich in The Blue Angel, and follows her to a sleazy motel ... As slaughtered by Peter Enfantino in Scream Factory #10 ("The Worst Horror in the World" issue, Autumn, 1992). Didn't think it was so bad, but can only agree that the kiss off is pretty limp.
