For you vintage SF fans. From the publishers of The Book Of The Dead and Unearthed, among several other titles, two of which we'll be meeting shortly ... W. S. Lach-Szyrma & Molly Tanzer - Aleriel, A Voyage To Other Worlds (Jurassic, Nov. 2015) Jonathan Edwards Blurb: The lost classic of Victorian space travel, complete with a new sequel by Molly Tanzer!
First published in 1883, Aleriel is a visionary tale of space travel, evolution, and Utopian idealism. The titular character, a Venusian explorer, wanders through the Solar System in search of compatible life, including lengthy stays on Mars and, of course, Earth.
This edition carefully preserves the original text, including both of the author's original prefaces. It also includes a lengthy new introduction by Richard Dunn (Head of Science and Technology, Royal Museums Greenwich) and Marek Kukula (Public Astronomer, Royal Observatory Greenwich), discussing Mars in fiction and the role our Solar System has played in inspiring contemporary literature.
Aleriel also comes complete with "Civilisation and Its Discontented", a new short story by Molly Tanzer, revealing the lingering results of Aleriel's visit to Mars.
The cover for this edition is by noted comic artist and illustrator Jonathan Edwards, whose recognisable style also adorns albums by The Black Eyed Peas and The Jungle Brothers.
Aleriel publishes on 24 November.Orders, further info from: Jurassic

Happy Holidays! Our annual Stocking Stuffer is available for free download. This year's collection is themed around book collecting, because, well... books are the best. It has all sorts of useful advice about hunting for second-hand books in the alleys of 19th century London, removing bloodstains and, of course, Napoleon's personal library. Download your copy HERE. The Stocking Stuffers are our annual 'thank you' for being terrific readers and supporters. Jurassic London is a not-for-profit publishing house, with all our proceeds going to charity partners. This year, your purchases have benefitted UNHCR, The Trevor Project, MOSAC, The Homestead, and The Eve Appeal, amongst others. Thank you for both your reading taste and your generosity. We wish you a very, very happy holidays and look forward to badgering you again in the new year.

Sad news from Jurassic LondonThe Extinction Event Saving the best for last. Jurassic London's 5th anniversary is this October, and we're celebrating with a huge new anthology: The Extinction Event. We've been taking this as an opportunity to revisit our previous publications - including the rare and out of print titles - and also commission some terrific new material. Currently it weighs in at over 150,000 words, with over half its contents completely new. The Extinction Event will be published in late October, as a very glamorous limited edition. This will be the only edition (no ebook!), so we're going to make it as special as possible. I suppose the clue is in the name, but... The Extinction Event is also our last book. We'll do the various "thank you" and "goodbye" bits in October, but for now: this has been really fun, and thank you. If you swing by the site later this week, we'll be explaining exactly what this means (spoiler: all the books go away). But for now... start clearing some shelf space. The Extinction Event is coming, and it is going to be big.
