Fred Pohl passed away yesterday at an age of 93 years.
As far as I can tell he was the last of the old time pulpsters. His first story appeared in Amazing back in 1937.
He maintained a very high level of writing even into the 2000s!
How sad.
But I guess such a long and productive life is a win for Mr. Pohl.
take care. Doug

Jack Vance, who died earlier this year, was older, although he debuted later.

Fred Pohl passed away yesterday at an age of 93 years. That is sad news. I have fond childhood memories of the Undersea books that he wrote with Jack Williamson. Great kids stuff, much like Isaac Asimov's Lucky Starr books and Robert Heinlein's Have Spacesuit Will Travel.
