John Blackburn has returned to print! We've just released new editions of Broken Boy (1959) and Bury Him Darkly (1969), both newly introduced, and we have ten more titles under contract. Nothing But the Night (1968) will be next. Just thought I'd share for those interested. We've also released some vintage Oliver Onions, Colin Wilson, and other assorted goodies. Check it out: Valancourt Books 20th Century ReleasesAll books are available on Amazon worldwide or can be ordered thru other booksellers. - Jay

landed a copy of Broken Boy at the market not so long back, and plan to get stuck into it soon. Have you considered a collection of his macabre short stories? They're very good. I'm not sure if they've been collected, but there should be enough for one. John Blackburn - Broken Boy (Sphere, 1970) Blurb: Ritual Murder The horribly mutilated corpse which the police dragged from the river was identified by British Intelligence. It appeared to be that of Gerda Raine, onetime agent of East Germany, who traded missile secrets for asylum in the West.
General Kirk was afraid that a foreign. power had set up a murder organisation to operate in the British Isles.
Before long he was wishing it was only that.

We were thinking about it, after I saw Hugh Lamb's comments on his short fiction, though I couldn't tell for sure if there were enough stories. I didn't look very hard, but only found a small handful.
Nice Broken Boy cover -- I've never seen that one. We did a new illustration for ours that paid homage to the design of the 1959 dust jacket.
