The Cutting Room Floor: "Not for the squeamish!" How many times have you read variations on that tag-line, only to be disappointed when the story in question fails to deliver? Well, different strokes etc., but this next sure gave me some uncomfortable moments ... The fraught relationship with her abusive drunk of a mother has taken a heavy toll. Maddie's arms are cobwebbed with the tell-tale scars of the self-cutter, but her self-harm will be her fortune if there are any more like Tony around. He's a disillusioned wedding photographer, keen to expand his portfolio with "sexy Grand Guignol" material (think The Redeemer but convincing), and willing to stump up £500 plus expenses to film Maddie doing what comes naturally. Tony has already chosen the location - a derelict seminary on the outskirts of Glasgow. Come the day, as Maddie stands at the altar and gets busy with a fillet knife, it's soon apparent that the college is not as abandoned as she'd been led to believe .... A ghost story of sorts, but if you anticipate the ending, pat yourself on the back. You obviously have enough tentacles to do so. Strange Games: Deb, a cocktail waitress in a strip club, instinctively dislikes the mystery man who's taken to haunting the place in recent weeks. Her lover, Leah, an exotic dancer, assures her that he's nothing to worry about and, to prove her point, gets him to order her a drink. At first it's his money has them agree to a private performance, but as the bizarre sex games he proposes get wilder and increasingly dangerous, she's so caught up in the excitement of it all that Deb's doesn't flinch at participating in his version of 'the ultimate thrill'. 'Linda Lovecraft' would purr - and much else - over this one!
