Donald F Glut Frankenstein in the Lost World (Pabel, Germany, 1976, Druktenis Publ. 2002) Burt Winslow, our millionaire scientist hero gets the Monster out of the moat it sunk in #5 and puts it on a private plane. His "fiance" Lynn, the blonde goddess, acompanies him. But the plane is kidnapped by a criminal - in the 2002 version it is an arab terrorist - and flown to Africa. And faster than you can say Caprona they crash-land in a prehistoric jungle with dinosaurs and "Neandertals". Of course the Monster wakens. Winslow finds a lost scientist named Sara who studies the tribes. Lynn gets to be her queen, her chieftain Kaz is lusting after her, but only untill Tor comes along, a thirty feet big black gorilla. Now it is Tor who is after naked Lynn. Who can blame him. At the end our "scientist" Winslow destroys the whole plateau with the help of some dynamite and some volcanoes, triggering a chain-reaction. Winslow and Lynn escape with a Salvo´s bi-plane, the Monster seemingly vanishes into the lava. But not before Winslow put a few well-aimed rounds of the planes Vickers into his arch-enemy.The plot sounds rather simple and it is, there is virtually every beat present Conan Doyle and later Burroughs developed. Not to mention a horde of screenwriters. Still, it is hard not to like this. Like all the other novels in the series Glut doesn´t try to be clever or postmodern, there is no "wink" to the audience, and his fun in writing this is contagious. I have seen worse Tarzan movies then that Again there is a reprint of a Dick Briefer issue of Monster of Frankenstein in the back.

These later New Adventures have even greater appeal now we know for sure that luscious Lynn Powell loses yet more of her clothing as the series progresses. By the final NEL reprint, Frankenstein Meets Dracula, Lynn was down to just a scarf and bikini briefs for almost the entire duration so i guess it was inevitable that one day she'd find herself running naked through the jungle pursued by a lust-crazed gorilla, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Boring Burt Winslow is a fortunate man indeed.

As big a fan of the Glut Franky novels as I am, I am not sure that putting the creature in a dinosaur setting (far fetched immediately springs to mind) is quite so appealing as his conventional Franky stories, but hey ho. One man's meat and all that.

I'm not sure this is the best thread to place this link, but fans of the Glut series will be at least somewhat interested: www.dreadcentral.com/news/252626/tales-frankenstein-nearly-ready-told/I couldn't even get through the four minute "sizzle reel"--the dreadful score (?) did not help, and despite all the distinguished names, the whole thing just seems to be sub-par. In the better moments it seems as if it might be reminiscent of those 1980s and early 1990s anthology series such as TALES FROM THE CRYPT and FRIDAY THE 13TH (the television version). Glut is the executive producer so presumably will be happy with the completed version--or one would hope so. As seems so usual nowadays, they're shilling for cash to do post-production. Autumnal Cheer, H.

A friend who heard actor Jerry Lacy speak about this project last year at a Dark Shadows fan event reports that Lacy said that Don Glut both produced and directed this film.
I'd like to read the story about the Frank character accidentally digging up some vampires for his "experiment." That sounds like fun.
cheers, H.
