Curse this having no home internet connection!
Rog mentioned seeing this little gem over ...erm...Christmas, which reminded me that I'd had the Tartan DVD sitting around for yonks. A day off thanks to a tooth extraction gave me a chance to revisit (just before our TV blew up - ain't life grand?)
I'd seen the picture twice on the big screen. Once as part of a double bill with what I can't remember (possibly Shivers) and once as part of an all nighter at the Windsor ABC - BC, Flesh For Frankenstein,Suspiria, Blood For Dracula, It's Alive.
I recently watched a widescreen version of Halloween and can see the influence.
BC is a great little fillum, very funny, very suspenseful and with good performances from some well known faces (John Saxon, Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, Keir Dullea).
Rog - I thought the language a little more ...salty than I remembered. The BBFC mentions that the X Certificate version was cut, but neither they nor I can remember what was excised.
Now - do I have the courage and foolhardiness to watch the remake?

One site suggests that BLACK XMAS was inspired by a series of real killings in Montreal. I wonder if this is them... www.crimezzz.net/serialkillers/B/BODEN_wayne_clifford.phpYep. Deffo. The killer dated some of the victims under the name "Bill", but that wasn't his real name. The killer in BLACK XMAS was obviously using the name Billy. If you google BODEN Wayne Clifford and Black Christmas it turns up nothing though.
