I give up!
I can't seem to get the Avatar settings right. Even though I've picked one of the available avatars it doesn't appear in my posts. I also tried to pick one of my own and it didn't work either.
Does anyone have any tips or could maybe help me?

I did have some problems with my own avatar selection until I realised it was too many pixels to be accepted (it has to be no more than 100x100 pixels). Once I shrunk it, it was fine.
Having said that, I've just tried tinkering with it & it didn't co-operate. I suspect it's playing up.

hi doug, the problem is that i hosted the avitars at ripway which has since gone under. i've just uploaded another batch to p*tob*ck*t, so if you want to pick from them until i can replace the others?

I've always had trouble with avatars on this site. And now I can't see how to install one. I've clicked on "profile" and can see nothing about avatars.  |

Profile/ Modify Profile/ and scan down to 'Personal Information'. once you've uploaded an avitar or chosen one from drop-down list, press 'modify profile' at foot of the page and you're done. Please do not exceed 100 X 100 pixels. There's no point, and it only makes the board slower to load.

To make life easy, I've selected one of the avatars provided. Very lovely as my new avatar is, I may possibly (sooner or later) photograph my copy of the 4 Square edition of The Red Brain to form an avatar... but not today. It would be wonderful to photograph Dave Carson's heading for The Red Brains Trust (from Dagon) for this purpose. But, alas, it's the wrong shape for an avatar.
Incidentally, I don't recognise the origin of my new avatar, and wonder from which book cover it's taken.
