I've always thought that M.R. James was a first class writer, but he's soon to be a first class stamp (I know, witty, eh?) as one of the Britons of Distinction set of stamps due out in February. gbstamp.co.uk/article/royal-mail-britons-of-distinction-stamp-issue-246.htmlFirst horror writer ever to have a stamp dedicated to him? Or have I missed a Guy N. Smith or Charles Birkin stamp that licks you back (or bites your tongue off)?

i was going to make some suggestions for Shaun Hutson, Pierce Nace, Jim Moffat and Michel Parry/ 'Linda Lovecraft' Devil's Kisses commemorative stamp (licks itself and any orifice within reach of it's ever-flickering tongue), but they were too disgusting even for this board. Here's a nice Tales Of Terror set from 1997 issued to celebrate the Dracula centenary. The stamps were designed by Ian Pollock and Prof. Christopher Frayling contributed a short essay to the first day cover pack.

Someone's got too much time on his hands. Don't we all? When we should be busy with a revolution.

Someone's got too much time on his hands. Don't we all? When we should be busy with a revolution. I owe you an apology. When I saw the Robert Aickman stamp I wrongly assumed that the Lurker had sent it. I was really expressing my antipathy to Robert Aickman who, if he did appear on a stamp, I wouldn't lick the back of it. I probably now owe the Lurker an apology.

I probably now owe the Lurker an apology. And Aickman. And me.
