Horror & supernatural fiction are both a bit rubbish when you think about it. Don't get me wrong - they can be, and often are, eminently satisfying on a number of levels, just not the one they're presumably supposed to. How many of the stories and novels you read actually frighten you? I daren't go back to it in case it doesn't work a second time, but Bernard Taylor's deceptively quiet novel, The Moorstone Sickness, did me!
very glad to see he's getting his own collection.
