Bit of a weird request / favour to ask here. Basically, I’ve finally gotten around to reading James Herbert’s ‘The Dark’ only to find that the very last page of the book has gotten wet at some point making a small(ish) section on both sides of the page completely unreadable.
Not wanting to get to the very end of the book to find that I can’t read a potentially important section of a finale or dramatic twist, I just pent my lunchtime today going to every bookshop/library in Cardiff City Centre in the hope of taking a quick photo of the novel’s last page (front and back).
Alas, it seems that copies of ‘The Dark’ are somewhat scarce these days! Not one shop (new or secondhand) in the whole of the city centre had a copy. Bugger!
Soooo...in my desperation this leads me to my request. I don’t suppose anyone on here could reach onto their bookshelves, locate their copy of ‘The Dark’ and copy out the two small passages that I’m missing could they? I’d be eternally grateful!
The small sections I’m missing are:
Very top of the last but one page (page 335 in my copy). The sentence (actually starting on page 334) starts “Only those who can not cope with the new powers they found they possessed have suffered, for their minds have retreated from it, hidden within themselves so they can no longer...” and that’s as much as I can read until the beginning of the (next?) paragraph starting “We’ve heard reports that the Light has been seen since...”
And then on the exact reverse of that page (page 336 in my copy) I’m missing the whole of the last passage starting with (beginning on the previous page):
“He had become part of them, joined the flow that never ceased growing, moving, yet which, again in our terms, had no reality; and eventually a part of that flow was allowed to return to its beginnings and combat an opposite energy that threatened its...” and then I can’t read anything else from there!
Bit of a bugger huh? Anyone fancy spending a couple of mins typing out those two short sections for me? As I said, I’d be eternally grateful.

Top Darts!!! Thank you so much Dem. Very kind of you. I can now carry on with the last third of the book knowing that I won't be missing anything at the end.
