Caryl Brahmc & Ned Sherrin - Ooh! La-La! Feydeau farces retold—from the BBC-tv series (W. H. Allen, 1973) Jacket design by John Munday Introduction
A Good Night's Sleep Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted Keep an Eye on Amélie A Little Bit To Fall Back On St. Shrimp Call Me Maestromiserable tidings! Friend back-of-the-van-man is away until Jan 8th - i.e., next year. What to do with myself on Sunday mornings? Where will the next pre-soiled 'n battered paperback come from? It's starvation rations for Christmas, i tell you, which maybe explains yesterdays panic buy under the tragic misapprehension that 'french farce' must mean Grand Guignol with tits and bums. Have any of you seen the 1973 BBC series in question? can't say i'd even heard of it 'til yesterday when i found the book and watched a three minute clip from Keep an Eye on Amélie which, apparently, includes a visitation from beyond the grave so perhaps all is not lost.
