It's very sad to report that John Burke passed away on Tuesday after a long illness. He was 89. A legend in every sense of the word, he helped me enormously in the four years I knew him - and the world is indeed, a poorer place without him in it.
I shall write a proper tribute to John in the next few weeks.

at the age john reached it can hardly be called a shock, i guess, but nonetheless it's a sad day for fans of uk paperbacks who are a certain age and who grew up with his work on the shelves of local stores and who relied on him to supply the kind of fix not supplied before video.
his own original work is demanding of more attention than it generally gets, and it's also heartening to see that he was working up til the last.

RIP
Loved the care taken in his Hammer film adaptions.

John Burke's Party Games was adapted for the BBC's 1968 series Late Night Horror under the title The Corpse Can't Play. It seems that all episodes have long been destroyed, however, the intro does exist. Pretty creepy it is too!

Sadly I don´t have one novel by the man. After reading in the Vault about him I tried to get one of the Hammer novels, but couldn´t get one.
Looking forward to your tribute, Johnny.
