And goodness me - aren't there a lot of them? Does anyone think these are popular or are they just the result of a lifelong, very...ahem...personal project?

I can't help wondering if the perpetrator realises Leigh Brackett and Catherine L. Moore were women. Mind you, even poor Mary Shelley gets renamed, so who knows?

When I see stuff like this I leap to the conclusion that our civilization is ending quicker than I anticipated. It's not that switching the gender of characters is necessarily a bad thing. It's a novel idea. But its so like taking samples from great songs and using them in new music - Sort of self indulgent opportunism, rehashing ideas, tampering with institutions and it only makes you realise that the original was very good. I don't think my generation will ever come to terms with this gender thing.
