Apparently it's a serious art film from Japan (which may incidentally feature a few strippers and the odd zombie). Probably the kind of thing that Bergman would be making if he was alive today. I thought it worth mentioning because it's on at the Prince Charles on Friday 17th September and if you turn up disguised as a big-titted zombie you can get in free. princecharlescinema.com/events/Sadly I can't go

that made me so much i can't bring myself to move it! i reckon the Prince Charles are seriously underestimating just how many will be up for it. imagine if they fill the place and have to turn people away? there could be a big-tits zombie riot in Leicester Square.

Finally got around to seeing this, and now I'm sad; it wasn't nearly as much fun as I hoped. Maybe I gave it too much of a mental buildup, because I was sooo let down. Had its moments, though. Just not enough of them. (Maybe it would have worked better if I was a teenage boy; must try it out on my son and find out). Been a bad week all round for the movies, in fact; Basement was dire, Simon Says was almost as bad and The Torment - is it me (again) or are a lot of recent horror movies aimed at an audience who live in a permanent state of mindless paranoia, possibly drug-induced? Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but total suspension of brain activity? Seems to me like modern urban professionals have the mindset of the peasants in a Transylvanian inn back in the Hammer glory days.

When a film called "Big Tits Zombie" doesn't live up to expectations then the world is indeed a very sad place. Maybe there are a couple of things to look forward to though, like Hammer's next ("Wake Wood", trailer here - www.hammerfilms.com/productions/film/filmid/10/wake-wood) or the Burton/Depp re-boot of "Dark Shadows" (filming due to start this April)?

You mentioned that word Hammer. I've now pre-ordered the DVD of Wake Wood, which is out at the end of this month.

When you said "Big Tits Zombie" I thought you were talking about the film "Doghouse" (which is hilarious), since even though they're not technically zombies, one of the rabid/infected/murderous women does indeed have quite a frightening rack. If you haven't seen DOGHOUSE, give it a try and maybe it will cheer you up. It's gleefully misogynistic, but adorable nonetheless. [disclaimer: When Julie uses the word "adorable" she has to pay it extra, since it generally means, in her vernacular "makes me smile all the way through" rather than any commonly-agreed-upon or inherent dictionary definition]

When a film called "Big Tits Zombie" doesn't live up to expectations then the world is indeed a very sad place. Certainly have to agree with that. I've not seen it, but still want to. I suffer from not being disuaded, however bad the film is - I have to see for myself, hence owning too many film 2000 releases ;D. Been going for some older horrors this week: Vampyr (1932), Nosferatu (1921) & Viy - Spirit Of Evil (1967). All well worth a watch. Lemming, don't give up on modern horror completely - Have you seen Christopher Smith's Triangle? that one's a right headfuck & certainly has re-watch value. If you haven't, don't watch any trailers or read anything about it beforehand, go in blind.

Afraid Doghouse left me cold as well, but I watched Viy on the Mosfilm website last week and loved it. Watched Suck last night, too, and it made up for all the rest. Vampires, Canadian rock, Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper - so very glad it turned out not to be lousy! Wake Wood is on my list as well. But tonight's menu is the end of the marathon Deathnote anime viewing with the spawn, followed by either Mad Detective or The King and I (yes indeed, the singalong version at that. Told you I was sick).

You mentioned that word Hammer. I've now pre-ordered the DVD of Wake Wood, which is out at the end of this month. Yeah, I HAVE TO see this one. Hammer plus Timothy Spall!!! From the trailer, I am thinking a cross between The Wicker Man and Pet Sematary. Have you seen Christopher Smith's Triangle? that one's a right headfuck & certainly has re-watch value. Yes! It is not to be missed. I agree - actually, one of those films where a re-watch is pretty much essential. ... The King and I (yes indeed, the singalong version at that). Now, that sounds like a truly horrific prospect.

And now I hear that Tom Cruise is in the frame for del Toro's At The Mountains of Madness...
And that it may be in 3D (James Cameron is producer)...
Arse.

I did go for the King and I, then came down with some hideous virus - probably a connection there some place. I'd only just heard about the Tom Cruise threat to Mountains of Madness, but maybe he'll fall off his shoes or something before it happens. And Ron Perlman is down for it, so maybe he'll accidentally tread on the wee squit during shooting. Meanwhile, I'm cheering myself up (I hope) with Robogeisha.

Robogeisha - as much fun as it ought to be, in spite of some attempt at giving the characters some kind of three-dimensionality. A heroine who transforms into a half-tank creation and fires napalm from her hair, and she-villains who sprout swords and fire ninja stars from their rear-ends - oh, yes! Higanjima, Escape From Vampire Island, isn't a bad romp either, though that too gets a bit serious here and there. Corking performance from the head vampire, and some very classy action - and the door left wide open for part 2.
