I've just read Survivors: Genesis of a Hero by John Eyers, published in 1977 by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in hardback and Futura in paperback. It's a spin-off from the BBC series Survivors, created by Terry Nation, but it has nothing to do with the TV version, instead being a fine romp through a post-apocalyptic Britain dominated by rival warlords. Much recommended. However, I have no idea who the writer, John Eyers, was. There's only one other book I know of - a spin-off from Special Branch titled In at the Kill, published by Futura in 1976. I'm sure that John Eyers is a pseudonym, but all I can find is that it conceals the identity of one Peter Eyers-Hill. And the only thing I can find under that name is a couple of episodes of The New Adventures of Black Beauty. This can't be all - the novel's too professional to be from an inexperienced hand. Anyone got any ideas? I ought to declare an interest: I want to know because I'm working on a book about Terry Nation.

Mighty interesting . I'm sorry I can't help you but thanks for the post. I'm a big Survivors fan ( new and original series) and hadn't heard of this offshoot. As they say onto the list it goes!

Just to flesh it out. Genesis of a Hero is the story of Peter Grant, familiar from the TV series as Abby's son, for whom she spends so much time looking. And he turns out to be a character not dissimilar to John Connor in the Terminator movies.
It's trashy and great fun.
