( david R, working now please ignore my email if you got it) - chris I've not had that problem, but have encountered something similar. Jojo's recent posts appear as gibberish. (Only joshing, JJ) Btw, I understand Ligotti might not be an Aickman fan; there's something to that effect in the Tibet foreword to the Tartarus RA 2 volume edition. No accounting for taste. Me? I love 'em both. Mark S.

Hmmm still ahving problems. I thought it had gone away, but it appears to be a recurring, intermittent problem. Sometimes nothing loads other than the banner at the top of the site, sometimes I get a short error message and then sent to an explorere error page. Sometimes the website loads. This ahs onlys tarted happening in the last couple of weeks. Is no-one else having problems?
An a related note: is it possible to go from the "30 most recent posts" to "slightly less recent, to "even more less recent" etc?
I usually just log on and browse the 30-latest starting from the message newest to em. But given that I'm only able to log on every few tries I think I'm missing posts at the moment.
Cheers - Chris

I'm having no problems at all. Have you changed your browser? I had hell with half the sites I use after switching to Safari (I don't recommend it, it isn't that great, but it makes life easier with my iPod), and I understand Firefox can be a bit of a bugger. If not, I'd review your security settings, make sure you've cleared all temporary internet pages from the memory, and if you still have problems, it might be your actual internet service is wonky. If you're with a small provider your service may be overloaded at certain times, and even the biggies can have technical faults that can go on for weeks. I'm with Virgin and usually they can tell me if I call the customer freephone if there are any local issues.

Cheers - Chris sorry to hear you're having problems, chris. in answer to the above, i could change it to 'last 50 posts' or even 'last 1000 posts', but then it really would take forever to load. 'Last 30' isn't ideal, but trial and error says it's perhaps the most suitable for this board. lemming, firefox works fine for me - it's IE that always seems painfully slow to load.

Thanks for your suggestions lemming, I haven't changed my browser or provider (talktalk). No problems with other sites.
I actually delete my temporary files quite often these days as there is an odd glitch with a website wehre I take part in a football predictor: the log out function doesn't fully log you out and I ahve found that I need to clear the temp files to allow my and to log on after me to put in his predictions and vice versa.
I have just noticed today that I'm more successful if I go straight to the log in page on the vault. I'll start doing that routinely and see if it gets rid of the problem.
Dem, 30 posts seems fine. What I meant was it possible to then click onto a second page for the next 30 posts etc like in the individual threads. But I was really asking if this option existed somewhere on the site rather than suggesting it should be created. I don't want to generate any work anyone).

I use Mozilla and Lastpass - which I swear by. Its one of the few little add ons I find myself recommending without a thought. I am sure someone will hack it eventually but they will only ever get peanuts out of my stuff. It saves you ever trying to remember all the passes and logs in for you.

i'm afraid there's no such option i'm aware of chris, but will ask on proboards tomorrow. i know how frustrating it can be. having been absent for a week i'm finding it nigh on impossible to catch everything that's been posted in the meantime - and we're a very small board. i can't imagine what it would be like trying to stay on top of Shocklines and the like.

Don't get too worried about this, I've not had any problems on the last couple of visits. )Although it would be useful to be able to catch up more easily after a break in general). - chris
