Well, I am happy for you. Then you are an exception to the rule.

And why are there no women on here? Because, women simply are not interested in discussing with men. Except with their own husband, and for a purpose that in the end leads to some kind of successful practical result. Sorry, I didn't hear you because I was asking my husband to buy me some designer shoes. I did not mean from an egoistic perspective. I was actually thinking of the common good for both, or for the family.

I am an actual woman, as many here can attest. You might want to rephrase that.

No one wants to comment on the fact that there are no women discussing on this forum. Only men. (Well, an occasional woman visits and comments, but not regularly.) All you do is attack me, and collectively stick together and make fun of me. Might that be because of your comments? I've responded specifically to some of them. (With a few exceptions who want to temperate the lopsidedness. Thanks.) And why are there no women on here? Because, women simply are not interested in discussing with men. Except with their own husband, and for a purpose that in the end leads to some kind of successful practical result. Have you ever attended a fantasy convention, or one devoted to science fiction or horror? I fear you'd find that comment disproved very quickly. Yes, "the sexes do stick to their own". And share their common concerns. It's the same on every similar forum I visit. Only men. On the few occasions a woman joins the discussion, she is often patronized. Or encouraged exaggeratedly in a sexist way. I really don't understand how you all can stick to such politically correct denial. Led by a fad. You're supposed to be enlightened intellectuals. Many of you are sexist, but just don't want to admit it. Squeezing Britt Ekland's butt, without permission, and whatnot. You really should distinguish between fantasy and actual human interaction. Mind you, there are people who turn to fantasy because they can't cope with the latter.

I am getting more and more upset by having everyone against me! A herd of people running on me. Only thing missing are the cudgels and torches.
This is getting out of hand. I want to talk about others things. Cthuhlu, and ghouls.
I don't even know who John Norman is. But if he thinks men should dominate over women by force, I don't share his views. I merely mean that men and women energies are different, and compensate each other. Ying and Yang. I won't say a word more on this matter! (Except possibly for Ramsey's question about the witch, but that's not really a gender subject.)

Don't take me too seriously though. Part of it is act, I want to dig up things to their roots.

If I may borrow this thread for a question: dear Thana, will From Hell to Eternity be released as a Ebook? Well, I just asked the publisher and he said he wasn't sure about them, that he prefers hard copies and the alternative felt "a bit like not-publishing". So I suppose that in the short term that's a no but he did say he's open to persuasion. I prefer real books too but I'm a recent convert to the convenience of eBooks for long-haul flights and holidays.

Well, I went to a Dungeons & Dragons convention in my teens, but pretty much floated on top of things. Isn't fantasy after all a natural interest one has because one wants to withdraw from the real world or can't cope with it? Very practical people seldom are interested in fantasy. It seems a rare and fortunate combination to be good at handling both.

Don't take me too seriously though. Part of it is act, I want to dig up things to their roots. Is this not part of the problem though knygathin - it's fine to make jokes but if you cry wolf in the end the wolf eats you and you're discussing quite a serious thing here. I personally think you're just expressing yourself a bit loosely and tending to generalise. This board is full of people who have been criticized for being all sorts of things including not being politically correct, sexist, narrow minded, chauvanistic - all sorts - but it tends to get laughed off. I personally agree that in a general sense much female fantasy is uninteresting (but that's only to me, not to many people) and that that's possibly due to less use of instrumental verbs. It could also be because I childishly like heroes to be carrying zap guns and women to be scantily clad on the cover. In a general sense - I think many females are great at ghost stories and Sappho was a great poet. If you look at what you're saying - 'there no women on here' well, as Thana points out there are and she's also a great author of Horror and weird fiction who defies the very stereotype you're using. My suggestion would be to settle down and discuss something less controversial or failing that check out the work of some recommended female authors and you might get a pleasant surprise.

Isn't fantasy after all a natural interest one has because one wants to withdraw from the real world or can't cope with it? There are no doubt people who are drawn to fantasy because they are socially maladjusted, and it seems to me that there are specific types of fantasy fiction that deliberately play on this, but this does not mean that all readers of fantastic fiction are unhealthy. Most people enjoy being entertained, and this usually involves fantasy of one kind or another.

Thanks Craig. It's an early conditioning (or astrologically given setup, depending on where one starts to look), I guess, that I want to start an argument. I try to provoke and upset, in one way or another. It's something I am struggling with, because in the end I know it's wasted energy. Increased self-awareness of it, is the only way out of it. It's weaved into a desire for absolute truth, to tear down all dishonest veils. Writing horror stories is another way of provoking and upsetting. But then at least you're being creative. And perhaps even make some money from it, to put food on the table.

I think you would love her work. thanks for the tip. I've seen her name on book shelves for years but having looked at her bibliography I don't think I've read a thing by her. Is there anything in particular you'd recommend?
