Not at home at the moment so can't refresh my memory, but for me the first story was over-long and disappointing - the others were much better.

Only read the one story of his, The Last Day Of Miss Dorinda Molyneaux in the very first of the Robinson Best New Horror collections. If the rest of the stories in Antique Dust are anything like as good, i reckon it's very worth getting.

got most of westalls collections but don't remeber this one at all... i'll see if i can find a 'contents' for it. haven't read my westalls for a while, he was one of the writers that got my young self into wanting to write about the strange etc.

It has been many years since I read Antique Dust and the only two stories I can remember are one about a possessed clock and another very Jamesian one set in an old church called The Last Day of Miss Dorinda Molineux (apologies if I haven't got that name quite correct). All of the stories feature the same antiques dealer protagonist and are written in 1st person I seem to recall. I think he is also the hero of Westall's novel, The Wheatstone Pond.

Dug up my copy. The story I didn't like much was "The Devil and Clocky watson", which unfortunately leads the collection. Contents The Devil and Clocky Watson The Doll The Last Day of Miss Dorinda Molyneaux The Dumbledore The Woolworth Spectacles Portland Bill The Ugly House

I got a copy for a similar price, and it was pretty much covered in antique dust, as well as some not very pleasant stains from its days in service as library fodder - Very Good condition my eye! Still, at 47p or whatever, I'm not going to make a song and dance about it.
Very much enjoying reading it, Miss Dorinda M's story is the favourite so far, and I've got one of Westall's 'young adult' ghost novels, "The Watch House" to follow it up with, since that's been sitting on a shelf here for years.
Will put up my thoughts when I finish Antique Dust
