The board is looking very unwieldy again, so i'll be attempting some pruning. it should be pretty painless and NOTHING WILL BE DELETED but just so you know, i'll be looking to;
1. Merge or expand some of the underachieving sections.
i've already made a start. The PAPERBACK LIBRARY section looks a little healthier now it's been extended to include two 50's/ 60's/ 70's US publishers who've proved a hit with our readers, namely Ballantine and Manor Books, and i might add another couple. i've also shifted Members Photo's, Complaints, suggestions, the Happy Birthday thread & general board junk into SERIOUSLY OFF TOPIC as we didn't need two sections doing more or less the same thing. i've also rewritten some of the section notes because they no longer made any sense whatsoever!
2. Free up or dismantle the sub-boards.
Search-engines don't scan them. The 'JACK THE RIPPER' fiction sub has already gone, its contents splattered across the CRIME section.
3. Once everything's done, replace the custom search engine with a new one that only deals with this board and vault Mk I (the current one searches all the WordPress stuff too, which is probably too much for it!)
Any further "improvements" you'd care to suggest will be listened to with a very straight face!

more kamikaze moderation. i've removed Robert Aickman and R. Chetwynd-Hayes from 'Favourite Authors' and incorporated their short story collections & novels into the Fontana Ghost & Horror section. This doesn't mean they've suddenly stopped (started?) being favourites you understand, but hopefully this will make it easier for you to still not be able to find their work.

second boring board update of 2010 i've now expanded what began life as the Paperback Library/ Gothic Romance section to include some of the other US pulp publishers of the sixties & seventies including Dell, Lancer and (i still worry about 'em) MacFadden. Some of the threads in American Gothic are more suited to this section, so i'll be shifting 'em across if nobody minds? i didn't think so. Proboards have provided an exciting new toy for mods to play with. it's always been easy enough to shift entire threads but - before now - if somebody posted a reply on the wrong thread there was nothing a mod could do about it (short of pm-ing the poster and asking them to delete and re-post it; like i care that much). Anyway, seems now mods can shift individual posts and i am about to have an experiment in a minute. The size of the board it's understandable that, in some cases, we've two under-performing threads about the same book, do i'm going to attempt to merge these where i find 'em. Later editexcept it doesn't seem to work!
