Just to reassure those who've expressed concern about this, I've no intention of deleting the old board and, as there's no reason to believe the server will collapse altogether, it should be around acting as our archive for keeps.
The problem is spammers. I still have to log-in on a regular basis to keep their numbers down and that's going to become a pain. Sometimes they've joined in droves and it takes ages trawling through 13 pages of members trying to root the bastards out. What to do about it?
All I've come up with is that I delete the accounts of all those who joined but never made a post - there's little likelihood of (or point in) them doing so now. This would at least make the chore manageable as we are talking a lot of accounts here. This is no slight on anyone who signed up and didn't feel like joining in, you understand (done that often enough myself on other forums).
Unless anyone can think of a better solution, in which case, please let me know.

Um. Ok, perhaps I could put it this way. Does anyone have any objection to me deleting the non-posting members' accounts on the old board?
Speaking of which, I've now replaced the banner on there with an extremely dull but clickable one which leads directly to this one.

Ah, I think I've got it right this time.
If anybody has any objections to me deleting the accounts of non-posters to the old forum, would they let me know soon-ish?

If they haven't posted, then I doubt they'll even notice their accounts are gone. The big clickable board is a good idea. Astonishingly there are still people joining that board rather than this one.

Too true, Cal. When we moved, I sent out a mass e-mail, so if any of them are in the slightest bit interested, they'll know where we are. [ The big clickable board is a good idea. Astonishingly there are still people joining that board rather than this one. And not posting, you'll notice. That's exactly what I want to keep under control. It's pretty clear that those who use certain email accounts (I've compiled a list as long as your arm) only join a forum to screw the members list for email addresses and then spam the shit out of everyone. If you leave a board lying fallow, it just gets worse. I added a locked section for me to try test posts and codes on which at least gives me an incentive to log in and give the impression that it's alive. OK, they go when I've an hour to spare at the weekend. Unless I hear a good reason why they shouldn't.

Can you not stop the spammers by introducing a typed code log in?
When you see the letters below type them in the box thingy?
XL250cc etc.

Thanks jaq. I got around it in the end by disabling sign-ups. Quite a timely post this as it will be a year on the 18th that we moved. The board might still be tiny, but it's probably more active now than then, so thanks to all who came over and all the new faces who've joined and freshened things up!
