Zacherley(ed.) - Midnight Snacks (Ballatine, March 1960) Richard Matheson - Sorry, Right Number Jerome Bixby and Joe E. Dean - Share Alike Theodore Sturgeon - Talent Wallace West - Listen, Children, Listen William F. Temple - The Whispering Gallery Robert Moore Williams - The Piping Death A. E. Van Vogt - The Piping Death Phillip James - Carrion Of Skulls Henry Kuttner - Pile Of Trouble Zacherley was the host of Shock Theatre, a late 'fifties New York TV smash which specialised in broadcasting Z-grade horrors. To liven things up, Zach dubbed himself into the movies or arranged for men in white coats to invade the studio, bundle him into a straitjacket and haul him off. He also managed a hit single, Dinner With Drac. The collections bearing his name are linked with macabre commentaries (from the man himself ?), and, for the most part, they're really rather good.

Glad you posted this Dem - I bought 'Zacherley's Midnight Snacks' from The Fantasy Centre when I was down there. Also the Ray Russell collection 'Sardonicus' (Ballantine 1961) - same cover artist? Had no idea who Zacherley was so thanks for that

Same Cover artist - the excellent Richard Powers. I'm thinking of lumping all the Ballatine 'Chamber of Horror' series together in a sub-board when we've enough of them. Ditto Kurt Singer and August Derleth, most likely.
