Chuff me! There's one name on there I never expected to see. Obviously he doesn't deserve it...

Course he does - but I can't chuff you. Congrats too to Lord P, Lurker and Rog - who seems to have made the book itself.

Yep, well done to the above, Mark Samuels and David Riley. And to Charles for first showcasing a respectable few honourable mentions in the Black Books.
scanning down that list brings home just how out of touch i am with contemporary horror. i'm sure i should feel bad about that, but .... can't.

I know, in exactly the same way that the one story of mine that made it into Ms Datlow's top 50 was the only one in Coffin Nails that's really bleak and contemporary (Don't Look Back) and was the only one that wasn't a laugh to write, has not in the slightest persuaded me that I should pursue that kind of nihilistic realism. It's back to naked ladies and evil pathologists for me. And that's just the day job

Sorry Craig! And Sean Parker (could've done with you last week!). And Paul Newman and Gary McMahon from Black Book. And Chris Fowler, friend of Vault WordPress .... Blimey! You haven't got the hang of this "destroy new horror" thing at all, have you? But i expect you're all working on your Paranormal Romance novels in the background to make amends.

Well I've already been accused on this board of having a paranormal romance cover, and that's more than enough for me!

And Sean Parker (could've done with you last week!) Sean Parker's Honourable Mention was among the stories from Cone Zero with HMs. I wonder if Sean knows? I seem to have lost contact with him.

Out of touch... is an honourable mention good? It's nice to be in honourable company sometimes. Perhaps not quite as good though as being charged with being a rogue and vagabond
